Job Overview

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Nutritional Services Assistant plays a vital role in the dietary department, performing various tasks as directed by the supervisor to ensure the smooth operation of food services.

  • Assists in the preparation of meals, snacks, and beverages, ensuring quality and presentation.
  • Responsible for assembling meal trays, and maintaining cleanliness and organization of supplies and equipment.
  • Maintains a clean and sanitary work environment throughout food preparation and service.

· Labels and transports nourishment to designated areas within the facility.

  • Delivers trays and carts to and from resident areas efficiently.
  • Operates kitchen equipment following manufacturer guidelines, adhering to proper cleaning and maintenance protocols.
  • Handles, stores, and disposes of food items in accordance with departmental procedures and regulatory standards.
  • Follows infection control policies to ensure sanitary preparation and storage practices, utilizing personal protective equipment as necessary.
  • Conducts inspections of food service areas for safety, pest control, and maintenance issues, addressing or reporting concerns to the Food Service Director.
  • Maintains communication with the Food Service Director or Assistant Director to effectively meet resident needs.
  • Assists in preparations for state inspections and participates in training as required.
  • Engages in ongoing education to enhance job performance.

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Education/Training/Experience:

Education: A high school diploma or equivalent is preferred, demonstrating basic literacy skills.

Certifications: None required.

Experience: Prior experience in institutional food service is preferred.

Must be free from illegal drug use and the effects of drugs and alcohol in the workplace.

Individuals with a history of abuse, neglect, or mistreatment in a healthcare setting are not eligible for this position.
