Job Summary

Amergis is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Special Education Teacher for Moderate/Severe Disabilities to join our team. As a Special Education Teacher, you will play a vital role in supporting the educational and developmental needs of students with significant disabilities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) for eligible students, setting specific goals and objectives.
  • Provide tailored instruction and assessment for students with disabilities such as autism, deaf-blindness, moderate to severe intellectual disabilities, multiple disabilities, and emotional disturbances.
  • Monitor and evaluate student progress and behavior, preparing progress reports and report card grades as needed.
  • Collaborate with students, parents, district personnel, and community organizations to provide informational resources and support.
  • Work within a pull-out Learning Center environment or a self-contained classroom, ensuring a safe and supportive learning environment.
Requirements
  • Education Specialist Instruction Credential in Moderate/Severe Disabilities or an equivalent credential.
  • Understanding of instructional practices, assessment, and program planning for students with moderate to severe disabilities.
  • Proficiency in basic subjects such as mathematics, reading, writing, and language arts.
