Diagnostic Imaging Specialist

Job Summary:
Under the general supervision of the radiologist, this role provides diagnostic services for patients of all ages undergoing diagnostic studies in the department of radiology. The ideal candidate will be multi-skilled and able to use two or more radiographic equipment to produce quality images for radiological diagnosis.
Responsibilities:
- Accurately interpret physician's instructions and routine procedural protocols to prepare and operate radiographic and mammographic equipment, associated software, and position patients to capture the appropriate images.
- Document all patient-related information in the radiology information system in a timely manner based on patient and radiologist workflow.
- Acquire patients' chart data/requisition and review both to determine correct room setup and learn of any specific medical problems, contraindications to the study, and verify that the study being ordered correlates to the diagnostic needs.
- Maintain all aspects of the radiographic and mammographic area, including technical and clerical components, to ensure proper quality assurance results, maintenance of required documentation, and keep the area in a state of inspection readiness and compliance.
- Participate in and maintain detailed follow-up of BIRADS category 0 mammographic records to ensure compliance with MQSA/ACR requirements, if certified in mammography.
- Screen patients, employees, and visitors to maintain a magnetically safe environment according to the American College of Radiology standards, if certified in MRI.
- Provide education to patients regarding procedures, equipment, and exams to ensure understanding and safety.
- Provide coverage as needed and provide instruction/mentoring to new hires.
Requirements:
- Registered by American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) (RTR).
- Connecticut Radiographer License.
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
