Role Summary:
The Respiratory Therapist, under the guidance of management, is responsible for delivering clinical direction and in-service training related to patient care and respiratory issues within the facility.

Qualifications:

Education:

  • Must possess a CRT or RRT license and have graduated from an AMA accredited respiratory care program.

Licenses/Certification:

  • Valid Respiratory Care Practitioner license in the state of employment.
  • Current CPR certification.
  • Ventilator certification is preferred.

Experience:

  • Preferred one year of experience in respiratory therapy within a long-term care environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide respiratory services as per established protocols, including patient assessments and information gathering.
  • Document all relevant information in respiratory care records and patient charts, including consultations and communications with healthcare professionals.
  • Assist the facility in compliance with regulatory standards, ensuring proper storage and documentation of respiratory equipment.
  • Manage routine communications, including mail and phone inquiries, and complete necessary administrative tasks.
  • Collaborate with facility staff on clinical and operational matters related to patient care.
  • Assess patients' respiratory needs, including oxygen saturation and ventilator management.
  • Ensure timely completion of treatments and ventilator checks, reporting any concerns to supervisors.
  • Complete monthly treatment administration records with accurate information.
  • Evaluate patients for decannulation and weaning as needed.
  • Participate in various special projects as assigned.
  • Resolve routine issues and communicate solutions to appropriate personnel.
