Job Summary:
The University of the South is seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Catering Team Lead to join our team. As a key member of our food service team, you will be responsible for coordinating the setup, service, and breakdown of all food and beverage functions, ensuring seamless execution and exceptional guest satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities:
- Event Coordination: Assist the management team in planning and executing catering events, including setup, service, and breakdown.
- Team Leadership: Lead and train on-call and temporary staff to ensure they are equipped to provide exceptional service and support.
- Communication: Maintain open communication with the catering supervisor and other team members to ensure smooth event execution.
- Logistics: Coordinate the transportation of equipment, supplies, and food to and from event locations.
- Quality Control: Ensure that all food and beverages meet the highest standards of quality and presentation.
- Equipment Maintenance: Maintain and repair catering equipment, including vehicles, dish machines, and other equipment.
- Sanitation and Safety: Ensure that all food handling and preparation areas meet the highest standards of sanitation and safety.
- Inventory Management: Manage inventory levels and ensure that all necessary supplies are on hand.
- Training and Development: Participate in ongoing training and development to stay up-to-date on industry best practices and trends.
Requirements:
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent required; some college coursework or degree in hospitality, food service, or related field preferred.
- Experience: Previous food service or catering experience required; experience in a high-volume kitchen or catering environment preferred.
- Certifications: ServSafe Management Certification or equivalent required; valid Tennessee driver's license required.
Working Environment:
The Catering Team Lead will work in a fast-paced, high-volume kitchen environment, with frequent travel to event locations. The ideal candidate will be able to lift up to 50 pounds, stand for extended periods, and work in a variety of weather conditions.
