Job Summary

The City of McAllen, TX is seeking a skilled Groundskeeper I to join our team. As a key member of our facilities department, you will be responsible for maintaining the grounds of our properties using hand or power tools and equipment.

About the Role

This is a hands-on position that requires a strong work ethic and attention to detail. You will be responsible for a variety of tasks, including sod laying, mowing, trimming, planting, watering, fertilizing, digging, raking, and maintaining sprinkler systems.

Responsibilities
  • Maintain the grounds of City properties using hand or power tools and equipment
  • Perform a variety of manual tasks, including sod laying, mowing, trimming, planting, watering, fertilizing, digging, raking, and maintaining sprinkler systems
  • Work independently and as part of a team to achieve departmental goals
  • Provide excellent customer service to City residents and visitors
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 1-2 years of experience in grounds maintenance or a related field
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Excellent customer service skills
