Job Summary

The California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Staff Services Manager I to join our team. As an Employee Relations Officer, you will play a critical role in investigating and resolving employee progressive discipline cases, ensuring a fair and respectful work environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Investigate and resolve employee progressive discipline cases in a fair and respectful manner
  • Develop and implement strategies to improve employee relations and reduce conflict
  • Collaborate with departmental stakeholders to ensure effective communication and resolution of employee issues
  • Provide guidance and support to employees on departmental policies and procedures
  • Conduct training and development programs to enhance employee skills and knowledge
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A bachelor's degree in a related field, such as human resources, business administration, or a related field
  • At least 2 years of experience in employee relations, human resources, or a related field
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize multiple tasks
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Working Conditions

This is a 12-month limited-term position, with the possibility of extension up to 24 months or becoming permanent. The ideal candidate will be able to work in a dynamic and challenging environment, with a strong commitment to public service and employee relations.
