Job Overview

This role involves collaborative teaching for students in grades 6 to 8, focusing on mathematics. The Math Educator will be associated with The Ingenuity Project and will work closely with the math faculty of Baltimore City Public Schools to implement a specialized curriculum on a daily basis. The courses include: 6th Grade Honors Singapore Math, 7th Grade Honors Pre-Algebra and/or Algebra, and 8th Grade Honors Algebra and/or Geometry.

Qualifications:

  • Preferred: Minimum of 3 years of experience in teaching mathematics at the middle or high school level.
  • Preferred: A teaching degree and certification in Middle School or Secondary Math, or a Bachelor's Degree in Mathematics or related STEM fields such as engineering.

Responsibilities:

  1. Create a comprehensive syllabus that aligns with Ingenuity's curriculum, distributing it to parents and students at the beginning of the academic year.
  2. Collaborate in planning and delivering Ingenuity's honors math courses.
  3. Evaluate students' homework for completeness and comprehension.
  4. Administer and assess tests and quizzes promptly.
  5. Maintain accurate records of grades and attendance in accordance with district and school regulations.
  6. Engage with families to communicate student progress, including achievements and challenges.
  7. Work with colleagues across various schools and the Ingenuity middle school team to develop curriculum.
  8. Conduct at least one weekly one-hour coaching session to assist students with homework and reinforce learning.

Additional Information:

This position typically involves working in a designated classroom, with the possibility of sharing space with a co-teacher. Ingenuity provides a modest discretionary budget to facilitate classroom activities and excursions.
