Job Summary
  • Estimated Salary: $120,000 per year (based on 10 hour shifts and 40 hours per week)
  • Duration: 13 weeks

This position involves working alongside cardiologists and other medical staff to perform diagnostic and interventional procedures in the cardiac catheterization lab. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing and maintaining equipment, assisting with catheter-based procedures, and ensuring patient safety.

Key Responsibilities
  • Pre-Procedure Preparation:
    • Prepare the cath lab environment for procedures by ensuring all necessary equipment and tools are sterile, functional, and properly set up.
    • Verify patient information, including medical history, allergies, and consent forms, before the procedure begins.
    • Assist in the preparation of patients, including setting up monitoring equipment and ensuring proper positioning.
    • Provide patient education and reassurance before the procedure.
  • Assisting with Procedures:
    • Assist cardiologists during cardiac catheterization, angioplasty, stent placement, and electrophysiological studies.
    • Handle sterile instruments, such as catheters and stents, during procedures.
    • Operate X-ray fluoroscopy equipment and assist with imaging during diagnostic tests.
    • Monitor vital signs and report any abnormalities to the physician.
  • Post-Procedure Care:
    • Monitor patients for immediate complications after the procedure.
    • Assist in transferring patients from the procedure table to recovery.
    • Help with patient recovery by monitoring cardiac rhythm and vital signs.
  • Equipment Management and Maintenance:
    • Maintain, clean, and sterilize cath lab equipment and instruments.
    • Regularly check and troubleshoot cath lab machinery.
  • Patient Monitoring and Safety:
    • Continuously monitor patient vital signs during procedures.
    • Ensure proper documentation of patient information and procedures.
  • Collaboration with Medical Team:
    • Work closely with cardiologists, nurses, and other healthcare professionals.
    • Attend pre-procedure meetings to review patient conditions.
  • Education and Training:
    • Stay up to date with the latest advancements in cardiac catheterization techniques.
    • Participate in ongoing education and certification programs.
