Position Overview
The Fraud Investigation Analyst at ID plays a crucial role in assessing, identifying, and mitigating potential fraud incidents within our member network. This position involves analyzing patterns of fraudulent behavior affecting various products and partners across all of our sectors, including our eCommerce platform. The analyst will collaborate with product, engineering, and member support teams to influence and guide security and product strategies.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor user activity and analyze signals to detect First, Second, and Third Party fraudulent actions, including account takeovers, social engineering, and compromised documentation.
- Provide insights and expertise in combating eCommerce and payment fraud.
- Investigate and identify fraudulent user activities, leading to account suspensions or cancellations.
- Review user logs to detect unauthorized transactions, fraudulent accounts, and emerging fraud trends.
- Enhance fraud analysis models to boost the efficiency and effectiveness of our products.
- Propose system and product enhancements and recommend anti-fraud measures to avert fraudulent activities.
- Collaborate closely with the Member Support team to investigate and act on user accounts.
- Work cross-functionally with Product, Engineering, and Member Support teams to influence security and product decisions.
- 5+ years of experience in fraud analysis/investigation, threat intelligence, cybersecurity, or data science.
- In-depth knowledge of various fraud techniques, tactics, and procedures in marketplace, eCommerce, or retail settings.
- Proficiency in fraud detection software and analytical tools.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, including node analysis.
- Prior experience in risk analysis and risk management.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present technical data in an understandable manner to stakeholders of varying technical expertise.
- Ability to work independently and autonomously, as well as collaboratively within a team.
- Familiarity with machine learning models and their application in fraud detection.
- Bachelor's degree in data science, criminal justice, or a technology/quantitative discipline.
- Certifications such as Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE) or equivalent.
- Experience with SQL-based data analysis.
