Job Summary

Carl Buddig and Company OWS is seeking a highly skilled Smoker I to join our production team. As a Smoker I, you will play a critical role in ensuring the quality and safety of our products.

Key Responsibilities
  • Food Safety and Quality Control: Develop and maintain a working knowledge of the HACCP program, including Critical Control Points and Critical Limits.
  • Product Testing and Inspection: Conduct testing to ensure cooking requirements are met, working closely with other departments.
  • Equipment Operation and Maintenance: Push/pull racks in and out of the smoke houses and ovens, monitor ovens and smoke houses during cooking, and review processing schedules.
  • Cleaning and Sanitation: Clean related equipment and maintain a clean and safe work environment.
  • Product Handling and Distribution: Issue cooked product to packaging or directly to production departments, following outlined Quality SOPs and guidelines.
Requirements
  • Education: High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience: 1-3 years of manufacturing, high-speed packaging, or food manufacturing experience.
  • Skills and Knowledge: Proven track record of acceptable levels of attendance, safety, and quality of work; basic understanding of GMPs, HACCP, and SQF guidelines; mathematical skills; good oral and written communication skills; ability to use measurement tools; and strong knowledge of AX software, net weight program, and craft sheets.
  • Physical and Work Environment Requirements: Ability to stand/walk for 8-9 hours per day; lift, push, pull up to 75 pounds on a regular basis, up to 100 pounds occasionally; bend, twist, stoop, and squat; good hand and eye coordination; and ability to work in temperatures of 40 degrees or less, as well as very warm temperatures of 80 degrees or higher.
