About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Tooling Design Engineer II to join our team at Blue Origin. As a key member of our engineering team, you will be responsible for designing, building, and commissioning tooling and fixtures for the manufacturing, assembly, and test of various New Glenn Stage 1 Mid Module components.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and develop tooling and fixtures for the manufacturing, assembly, and test of New Glenn Stage 1 Mid Module components
  • Collaborate with other engineers to support the development and operations of New Glenn
  • Work closely with manufacturing, assembly, and test teams to ensure efficient and cost-effective designs
  • Manage projects, including vendor selection, fabrication, inspection, equipment installation, and commissioning
  • Set, implement, and maintain schedules and budgets to ensure project completion
Requirements
  • BS degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering or other relevant degree
  • 4+ years of work or project experience with design, build, and commissioning of tooling and fixtures for manufacturing, assembly, and test
  • Ability to integrate concepts and principles of mechanical design and analysis for several different projects in a fast-paced environment
  • Experience collaborating with component and system designer engineers, manufacturing engineers, and production/operations to achieve efficient and cost-effective designs
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with structural analysis in addition to the ability to perform hand calculations
  • Demonstrated expertise in design for manufacturability and design for assembly
  • Solid understanding of common manufacturing processes and machines
