Key Responsibilities
  • Operate x-ray and auxiliary equipment to produce high-quality diagnostic images
  • Administer IV contrast and maintain equipment to ensure optimal performance
  • Position and instruct patients to obtain desired diagnostic imaging results
  • Review processed images to ensure diagnostic quality and verify them in PACS
  • Practice sterile techniques and prevent cross-contamination
  • Maintain work areas in a clean and orderly fashion
  • Interface with computers for data acquisition during CT and MRI procedures
  • Maintain records of imaging procedures performed into the RIS
  • Schedule procedures as necessary
  • Interface with patients, staff, and physicians to facilitate patient satisfaction
  • Work to improve Press Ganey scores through patient satisfaction initiatives
  • Provide services to reduce patient examination wait time
  • Transport patients to expedite examinations and improve patient satisfaction
  • Verify patient contraindications to IV or oral contrast administration
  • Perform veinipuncture with appropriate gauge for CT/MRI examinations
  • Explain IV contrast administration to patients and complete Iodinated IV Contrast Information sheet
  • Utilize flush technique for existing IV lines and power injector for IV contrast administration
  • Recognize and assist in treatment of contrast agent reactions and IV extravasations
  • Calculate contrast dose based on patient weight
  • Assist physicians or Imaging Nurses in contrast material administration
  • Maintain inventory of supplies necessary for assigned modality
  • Perform Quality Control and Electro-Mechanical checks at specified frequencies
  • Provide on-the-job instructions to other Technologists in CT and MRI
  • Coordinate preventive maintenance of equipment
  • Transfer images digitally to workstations as needed
  • Demonstrate working knowledge of PACS and RIS systems
Requirements
  • Graduate of an accredited Radiologic Technology Program
  • New York State Department of Health licensure as a Radiologic Technologist
  • American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) Registered Technologist (R.T.)
  • Minimum of two (2) years experience as a Radiology Technologist
  • Competency in one of the following modalities: CT, MRI, or Special Procedures
