ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
An Iowa Orthopedic Physician Assistant provides healthcare services under the guidance and supervision of an Orthopedic Physician.

Duties encompass, but are not limited to, performing diagnostic, therapeutic, preventive, and general orthopedic health-related services in various settings.


Key Responsibilities Include:


- Conducting history and physical examinations on patients as directed by the Physician, establishing diagnoses, and ordering appropriate laboratory and ancillary testing services while documenting findings.

- Reviewing patient records and administering injections, including visco supplementation, as well as performing wound suturing and care.

- Making comprehensive chart entries for all patient interactions following established coding guidelines.

- Preparing written prescriptions for medications and controlled substances in accordance with legal guidelines.

- Providing counseling, instruction, and education to patients.

- Assisting the Physician by dictating patient progress notes and discharge summaries as directed.

- Triaging patient phone calls, offering consultations, and documenting all communications in the patient's chart on the same day.

- Performing independent evaluations and treatment procedures in emergency situations.

- Assisting in the setup of the operating room, positioning patients, and supporting surgical procedures and postoperative care as directed.

- Participating in inpatient daily rounds as directed.

- Fulfilling on-call responsibilities as directed.

- Performing emergency room duties as directed.

Requirements:
The ideal candidate for this position possesses:
- Graduation from an accredited Physician Assistant Program
- Preferred experience in Orthopedics
