Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate After-School Counselor to join our team at the YMCA of Southeastern North Carolina. As a key member of our youth development program, you will play a vital role in shaping the lives of our young participants.

Key Responsibilities
  • Implement curriculum and design daily lesson/activity plans to promote academic support and guidance.
  • Supervise children, classrooms, and activities, ensuring a safe and engaging environment.
  • Maintain accurate records, including attendance sheets, incident reports, and behavior logs.
  • Communicate effectively with parents and guardians, providing regular updates on program activities and child behavior.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to develop and implement program activities, staff training, and community outreach initiatives.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent; one year or more of college preferred.
  • At least 18 years of age.
  • CPR, First Aid, and AED certifications within 30 days of hire date.
  • Previous experience working with children in a developmental setting, preferably with diverse populations.
  • Ability to plan, organize, and implement age-appropriate program activities.
