Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Cardiac Sonographer to join our team at Memorial Health. As a key member of our radiology department, you will be responsible for performing and evaluating cardiac ultrasound procedures, providing high-quality images and reports, and collaborating with physicians and other healthcare professionals to ensure excellent patient care.

Responsibilities
  1. Obtain and review patient history, physical examination, and clinical data to facilitate diagnostic results.
  2. Perform cardiac ultrasound procedures, including transthoracic echocardiography, transesophageal echocardiography, and stress echocardiography.
  3. Provide interpreting physicians with oral or written summaries of technical findings.
  4. Maintain technical skills and knowledge of ultrasound imaging factors, as well as other testing modalities.
  5. Demonstrate knowledge of human anatomy, physiology, and pathophysiology to image and evaluate normal and abnormal tissue structure or function.
  6. Understand the biological effects of ultrasound and adhere to infection control procedures.
  7. Ensure proper recording, documentation, confidentiality, and transmission of patient information.
  8. Monitor equipment and supplies to ensure safe and efficient operation of the department.
  9. Participate in continuing education, laboratory accreditation, and quality review processes.
  10. Keep current with clinical developments in the field of ultrasound imaging.
Requirements
  • Graduate of an accredited Ultrasound Program.
  • Registry eligible at time of hire/transfer.
  • Must be registry eligible at time of hire/transfer.
  • CPR required within 90 days from hire/transfer date.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Graduate of an Accredited School for Radiologic Technologist.
  • Graduate of an Accredited Ultrasound Program.
Performance Criteria
  1. Maintain skills and expand knowledge in the performance and evaluation of transthoracic echocardiography in the adult population.
  2. Maintain skills and expand knowledge in the performance and evaluation of transesophageal echocardiography in the adult population in standard settings, the surgical suites, and Cath Labs.
  3. Maintain skills and expand knowledge in the performance and evaluation of stress echocardiography procedures.
  4. Maintain skills and expand knowledge of the application of echocardiography in pericardial centesis, myocardial biopsy, intracardiac echo, or other interventional procedures.
  5. Maintain skills and expand knowledge in the performance and evaluation of transthoracic echocardiography in the pediatric, neonatal, and fetal population.
  6. Possess knowledge and understanding of other cardiac diagnostic testing: cardiac cath, EP, Holter, EKG, and arrhythmias, radionuclide imaging.
  7. Maintain skills and expand knowledge of ultrasound contrast agents and their applications.
  8. Recognize and address critical pathology through modification of scan protocols, recommendation of ancillary testing, and notification of interpreting physician.
  9. Demonstrate leadership in clinical application of echocardiography.
