MRI Technologist Job Description

The Radiology Department at Jamaica Hospital Medical Center is dedicated to providing high-quality patient care and exceptional imaging services. As a Diagnostic Imaging Center of Excellence, the department strives to uphold and exceed the high standards of the American College of Radiology.

Our team of skilled professionals is committed to delivering compassionate care and utilizing the latest technology to produce high-quality images.

Job Responsibilities:

• Perform MRI imaging procedures using Siemens equipment for body, neuro, and musculoskeletal scans, ensuring high image quality

• Verify patient identity, history, and exam requisition, following hospital protocol

• Greet and triage patients, ensuring their safety throughout the process

• Explain procedures to patients and answer questions throughout the scan

• Input patient history into the system and review relevant medical documentation

• Administer contrast media or medications as needed, in accordance with established procedures

• Maintain a safe and clean working environment, following established protocols

• Assist and train new hires in equipment use and departmental procedures

• Help patients with transfers, dressing, and exam preparation

Requirements:

Job Qualifications:

• Graduate of an accredited Radiologic Technology program

• New York State Department of Health licensure as a Radiologic Technologist

• American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) Registered Technologist (R.T.) ARRT registration in Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MR)

• Certified in IV Contrast Administration preferred

• Certified in Basic Life Support (BLS or BCLS)

• Knowledge of MRI equipment and protocols
