Job SummaryThe Dentist will work under the direction of the SHS Dental Director to provide dental care to patients. This includes diagnosing and treating diseases, injuries, and malformations of teeth and gums, as well as related oral structures.
Key Responsibilities- Coordinates and manages individual patient care
- Elicits and reviews information about patients to provide proper assessment, diagnosis, and treatment
- Examines patients to determine the nature of their condition
- Performs various treatments, including extractions, treatments for injured teeth, and fills cavities
- Designs and makes dentures to replace missing or diseased teeth
- Educates patients in oral and dental hygiene
- Administers local anesthetics as needed
- Supervises the taking of and reading of dental X-rays
- Prescribes and administers medications and vaccinations according to national and organizational standards of care
- Thoroughly documents patient visits
- Strives to achieve organization quality goals
- Actively supports organization quality initiatives
- Follows established regulations and professional standards
- Active unrestricted DDS or DMD license in the state of Kentucky
- Valid DEA license
- Current training in basic life support (CPR)
The employee will frequently be required to work in a clinic environment, which may involve exposure to communicable diseases, body fluids, toxic substances, medicinal preparations, and other conditions common to a clinic environment.
The employee will also be required to work under stressful conditions and may be required to work irregular hours.
