Key Responsibilities- Interpret and Clarify Written Orders
You will be responsible for interpreting and clarifying written orders for all types of medications, ensuring accurate and timely dispensing to patients.
Prepare Compounds and LabelsYou will prepare compounds, labels, and packages medications and pharmaceuticals in accordance with established professional protocols and standards.
Secure Storage of NarcoticsYou will secure storage of narcotics and other controlled substances on a regular basis, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
Restock MedicationsYou will restock or load medications in Omnicell stations, ensuring efficient and accurate dispensing.
Capture ChargesYou will ensure all charges for dispensed medication orders are captured in the hospital's billing system.
Provide Medication InformationYou will provide medications and drug information relative to circumstances and patient conditions in emergency codes in the hospital.
Communicate with Healthcare ProfessionalsYou will communicate drug-related side effects, dosages, potential complications to other healthcare professionals.
Advise PatientsYou will advise patients and/or their representatives on use of various medications, including dosage, side effects, and composition.
Promote Effective Use of FormularyYou will promote effective use of the formulary system through drug product selection and therapeutic alternative product suggestion for non-formulary orders.
Monitor Drug TherapyYou will monitor drug therapy as assigned by physicians, suggesting alternative drug therapy when appropriate.
Consult with Medical StaffYou will consult with and advise medical staff personnel regarding utilization of drugs and pharmaceuticals.
Attend CodesYou will attend codes to assist clinical staff with medication dosing and preparation.
Requirements- Education
You must have a Doctor of Pharmacy degree from an AACP-accredited College of Pharmacy.
ExperienceFree Standing ED or Micro Hospital Pharmacy experience is preferred.
Licensure or CertificationYou must have a current Arizona Pharmacist license upon hire and Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities- Knowledge of Drugs
You must have knowledge of drugs, possible side effects or interactions with other drugs, and how to compound medication in accordance with professional standards and practices.
Skills in Following OrdersYou must have skill in following physicians' orders and prescribed medications and relaying any procedures and concerns to the patient.
Skills in Patient CounselingYou must have skill in patient counseling and responding to patient's questions or concerns.
Ability to Read and AnalyzeYou must have the ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
