Paraprofessional Assistant

Job Summary: We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Paraprofessional Assistant to join our team at Victoria Independent School. As a key member of our instructional staff, you will provide critical support to our teachers and students, ensuring a positive and productive learning environment.

Responsibilities:

Instructional Support:

• Assist teachers in preparing instructional materials and classroom displays.
• Administer and score objective testing instruments or work assignments.
• Maintain a neat and orderly classroom environment.
• Assist with inventory, care, and maintenance of equipment.
• Support teachers in keeping administrative records and preparing required reports.
• Provide orientation and assistance to substitute teachers.

Student Management:

• Conduct instructional exercises assigned by the teacher, working with individual students or small groups.
• Supervise students throughout the school day, both inside and outside the classroom.
• Keep teachers informed of special needs or problems of individual students.

Other:

• Participate in staff development training programs to improve job performance.
• Attend faculty meetings and special events as assigned.
• Complete Medicaid/SHARS duties as determined necessary by the ARD committee.
• Maintain accurate records of Medicaid/SHARS services provided.
• Follow VISD Medicaid/SHARS operating procedures.
• Complete annual Random Moment Time Study (RMTS) training and surveys.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

Education/Certification: High school diploma or GED, valid Texas educational aide certificate, and NCLB Criteria met.

Special Knowledge/Skills: Ability to work well with children, effective communication skills, and some experience working with children.

Working Conditions: Moderate standing, stooping, bending, and lifting, with the ability to maintain emotional control under stress.
