Job Summary:

The Cafeteria Helper will be responsible for providing students with a healthy, high-quality nutritious lunch within the guidelines of the Michigan Department of Education School Lunch Program. The ideal candidate will be able to work efficiently, maintain cleanliness, and follow proper procedures.

Key Responsibilities:

Efficiently use, maintain, and clean all kitchen equipment and storage areas.
Cross-train on kitchen positions and work in all district kitchens.
Complete Introduction to Food Service through the Michigan Department of Education and Serv Safe.
Maintain all necessary records, including daily sales sheets, deposit slips, monthly inventory, time sheets, order forms, and production records.
Maintain Oakland County Health Department standards and Michigan Department of Education standards for school lunch programs.
Carry out directions, written or oral, as issued by the supervisor or designee.
Perform duties and functions assigned and deemed necessary by the nature of the work assigned.
Serve breakfast and prep for the next day.
Maintain regular and predictable in-person attendance.
Support the vision and mission of Oxford Community Schools.

Requirements:

The ideal candidate will have the ability to work efficiently, maintain cleanliness, and follow proper procedures. Completion of Introduction to Food Service through the Michigan Department of Education and Serv Safe is required. The candidate must be able to maintain all necessary records and follow Oakland County Health Department standards and Michigan Department of Education standards for school lunch programs.

Working Conditions:

The Cafeteria Helper will work in a fast-paced kitchen environment with frequent exposure to food, heat, and cleaning chemicals. The ideal candidate will be able to work in a team environment and maintain a positive attitude in a dynamic setting.

Education and Experience:

High school diploma or equivalent required. Completion of Introduction to Food Service through the Michigan Department of Education and Serv Safe is required. Previous experience in food service or a related field is preferred.

Physical Demands:

The Cafeteria Helper will be required to stand for long periods, lift up to 50 pounds, and move quickly in a fast-paced kitchen environment. The ideal candidate will be able to maintain a positive attitude and work efficiently in a dynamic setting.
