As a Senior Security Engineer specializing in Firewall Security Platforms, you will play a pivotal role in our Network organization.
A typical day for a Senior Security Engineer involves managing system modifications, overseeing the lifecycle of firewall systems, and maintaining the user VPN infrastructure. This role encompasses device monitoring, proactive fault management, vendor collaboration, vulnerability assessments, and ensuring compliance across our security systems.
The engineer will be tasked with designing, constructing, and managing the security framework for Fortinet firewalls and Cisco VPN solutions. While the position is heavily technical, candidates must also exhibit strong communication and organizational skills to effectively collaborate with various departments and vendors. Participation in corporate change management processes is essential, with responsibilities extending to executing changes during off-hours as needed.
The engineer will troubleshoot firewall and VPN incidents, identify root causes, and propose suitable resolutions. Regular reviews of vulnerabilities, compliance risks, and fault analyses on perimeter devices will be required, along with the development and implementation of remediation strategies. Additionally, this individual will be part of the on-call rotation and contribute to annual projects as assigned.Key Responsibilities
- Provide expert knowledge in applying security principles and serve as an engineering lead. Utilize technical expertise and industry experience to design, build, and maintain technology solutions while ensuring timely delivery of project milestones.
- Collaborate with architecture teams to translate high-level designs into detailed implementation plans, including sizing and integration specifics. Act as the capability owner for future enhancement requests.
- Lead evaluations of patches, updates, and ongoing maintenance, assessing impacts on existing solutions when new standards are introduced. Work closely with operations teams to identify challenges and implement corrective measures.
- Develop comprehensive implementation, configuration, design, and engineering documentation. Execute and implement solutions effectively.
- Coordinate with operational partners to facilitate transitions and ensure ongoing supportability.
- Provide engineering support for existing technologies in a production environment, working collaboratively with other teams as necessary. Seek opportunities to broaden knowledge and share insights with team members.
