About the Position

Travel Nurse Source is partnering with Cynet Health to find a skilled Labor and Delivery Registered Nurse for a position in Dickinson, North Dakota. As a Labor and Delivery RN, you will work with mothers during antepartum, labor, recovery, and postpartum phases.

Key Responsibilities
  • Monitor mother and fetus vital signs and report any signs or symptoms of possible complications.
  • Assist the MD with delivery of the fetus.
  • Interpret EKG and monitor patient on telemetry.
  • Report to Supervisor on Unit.
Duties and Responsibilities
  • Assess and monitor patient throughout (before/during/after) the labor.
  • Identify complications during labor.
  • Monitor contractions and help patient with breathing techniques.
  • Monitor patient on Telemetry.
  • Perform basic IV and central line skills.
  • Perform phlebotomy skills.
  • Knowledge of hemodynamics.
  • Administer pain medication as ordered.
  • Administer other meds to address specific medical conditions, such as hypertension and diabetes.
  • Take and record patients vital signs.
  • Ascertain if problematic.
  • Read fetal monitor & ascertain if there is a problem with baby's heart rate.
  • Identify & manage life-sustaining physiological functions in unstable patients.
  • Check patients cervix periodically to monitor progression/lack of dilation.
  • Ensure patients bed is kept dry & clean.
  • Clean up bodily fluids expelled before & after the birthing process.
  • Contact anesthesia when/if patient is ready for epidural.
  • Contact delivering physician at appropriate time, ascertain proper time.
  • Care for patients on Pitocin, MgSO4 & continuous lumbar epidural.
  • Ensure patient is in proper position for delivery & all monitoring equipment is functioning properly.
  • Aid doctor with drapes, gloves, gowns, etc.
  • Hand doctor delivery instruments as needed during birthing process.
  • Assist MD in Operating Room for C-Section.
  • Monitor patient on Telemetry.
  • Proficient in Cardiac Arrest Team Member.
  • Immediate care of newborn (clean, weigh, etc.).
  • Give Apgar scores.
Minimum Job Requirements
  • Graduate of an accredited nursing program.
  • Current nursing license, in good standing.
  • Minimum of one (1) year Labor & Delivery (L/D) experience.
  • AHA BLS.
  • AHA Pharmacology Skills Checklist.
  • Specialty Exam.
