Unit Description

The Neuroscience Progressive Care Unit (PCU) is a specialized 21-bed unit focused on delivering exceptional care to patients experiencing critical health challenges. This unit is designed for patients who require intensive monitoring and intervention, ensuring they receive the necessary support during a pivotal time in their healthcare journey. With a lower nurse-to-patient ratio, our team can provide frequent assessments and tailored interventions.

The PCU caters to a variety of patients, including those undergoing neurosurgical procedures, neuro-medicine treatments, and stroke recovery. Our collaborative approach involves a dedicated team of nurses, charge nurses, and patient care technicians, all working together to ensure optimal patient outcomes. Advanced monitoring techniques, including bedside and remote telemetry, are standard practice in our unit.

Our nursing staff is supported by an array of resources, including Nurse Practitioners, Nurse Managers, Assistant Nurse Managers, and Nurse Educators, fostering a collaborative environment that enhances patient care.

Training and Development

We provide a comprehensive orientation program to equip nurses with the skills necessary to care for neuroscience patients effectively. Continuous education and professional growth are highly encouraged, ensuring our nursing staff remains at the forefront of healthcare practices.

Role Responsibilities
  • Deliver patient-centered care in a supportive environment, educating patients and families on managing health conditions and post-treatment care.
  • Utilize critical nursing skills to assess and address the physical, emotional, and psychosocial needs of patients.
  • Collaborate with the healthcare team to develop and implement individualized care plans in line with established nursing standards.
  • Monitor patient responses and adjust care plans as necessary throughout the patient's stay.
  • Engage in initiatives that promote patient safety, quality care, and regulatory compliance while pursuing professional development opportunities.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements
  • Nursing Diploma or Associate's Degree in Nursing
  • No prior nursing experience required
  • No supervisory experience required

Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing
