The role involves assisting in procedures utilizing advanced digital Radiology technology. Responsibilities include aiding in the handling of instruments, guide wires, and catheters, ensuring accurate placement within the patient. The technologist will operate the image intensifier, enabling the physician to perform procedures effectively. On-call rotation is a requirement, and coverage on the Radiology floor may be necessary as needed.

- 1. Efficiently operate all specialized procedure and/or Cath Lab equipment throughout all stages of procedures.
- 2. Ensure all equipment is maintained in optimal working condition, adhering to preventative maintenance schedules. Report any equipment issues to Biomed immediately and provide quality assurance as necessary.
- 3. Collaborate with Senior Technologists in training new staff and delivering in-service education as requested.
- 4. Assist in procedures requiring advanced digital Radiology equipment, acting as a surgical assistant when necessary.
- 5. Participate in on-call rotations covering various shifts, including holidays and weekends.
- 6. Function as a Radiologic Technologist as needed in general radiography or the Special Procedures Suite.
- 7. Provide patient care, including monitoring vital signs and performing venipuncture as required. Administer contrast and maintain airway as necessary.
- 8. Maintain sterile technique in surgical environments competently.
- 9. Exhibit multi-skilled capabilities, including Cath Lab and Specials, as well as Cath Lab and Radiology.
- 10. Meet performance expectations in Customer Service, Teamwork, Resource Utilization, and Staff and Self Development as outlined in performance evaluations.
- 11. Perform additional duties as assigned to ensure the efficient operation of the department/unit.
Education: High School diploma or G.E.D; completion of formal radiologic technology training from an A.M.A. accredited institution and eligibility for A.R.R.T. registry.
Experience: A minimum of one (1) year of experience in all phases of special procedures techniques is preferred, demonstrating adequate capabilities as determined by the department head. A diverse range of experience is essential for expressing job knowledge through work characteristics and for instructing others in equipment use.
Licensure: Current Connecticut State License in Radiologic Technology is required.
Special Skills: A.R.R.T Registered (R); A.R.R.T. (CV), (CI), (VI), (RCIS) certification based on specialty is necessary. BLS & ACLS Certification is required.
