About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Cleaning Maintenance Associate to join our team at South Bay Community Services Chula Vista. As a key member of our facilities team, you will be responsible for maintaining clean and orderly shelter facilities, ensuring a safe and healthy environment for our clients and staff.

Responsibilities
  • Maintain clean and organized shelter facilities, including dusting, polishing, and disinfecting surfaces, as well as emptying trash and garbage containers.
  • Perform heavy cleaning duties, such as cleaning floors, and maintain working condition of cleaning equipment.
  • Organize custodial closets and spaces, and maintain detailed and thorough cleaning logs.
  • Assist with general cleanliness and safety of facility, including cleaning-up spills, and report incidents and maintenance issues as required.
  • Remain flexible and easily adapt to crisis situations, and attend all agency required meetings and trainings.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent, and 1 year of experience in a similar position.
  • Prior professional cleaning maintenance experience preferred.
  • Ability to complete job duties that are guest and housing focused and trauma informed.
  • Possess a high level of tolerance and understanding for individuals who present for services with high-risk needs.
  • Ability to communicate positively and appropriately with residents, families, community members, and other employees.
  • Able to carry equipment and supplies from floor to floor, and position requires ascending or descending stairs using feet and legs.
  • Able to operate and maintain all housekeeping/laundry equipment, and must be detail oriented and maintain high standards of cleanliness in public areas.
  • Ability to work with a diverse population, possess cultural competency, and maintain appropriate boundaries with clients.
