Advocate Aurora Health is in search of a dedicated Ultrasound Imaging Specialist to join our team.

Position Overview

As a vital member of our healthcare team, you will play a crucial role in delivering high-quality imaging services. Your expertise will contribute to accurate diagnoses and enhance patient care.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Efficiently operates ultrasound machinery to conduct general, vascular, and cardiac imaging procedures. Demonstrates the ability to distinguish between normal and abnormal findings.
  • Reviews patient medical histories to gather essential clinical data, including lab results and physician directives, ensuring the accuracy of examinations.
  • Positions patients appropriately and selects the correct transducer and technical settings to achieve optimal imaging results. Prioritizes patient safety and comfort throughout the process.
  • Utilizes advanced sonographic skills to identify, document, and modify procedures based on anatomical and diagnostic information.
  • Accurately labels and organizes images with patient identifiers and relevant details.
  • Maintains compliance with regulatory standards and accurately enters patient data into the radiology information system, ensuring correct billing practices.
  • Identifies and reports equipment issues, collaborating with team members to evaluate new technologies for potential implementation.
  • Analyzes sonographic data and communicates findings to the appropriate medical professionals.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of age-specific care requirements and adapts procedures to meet the diverse needs of patients.


Licensure and Certification:

  • Must obtain Medical Sonographer (RDMS) registration in Abdomen and OB/GYN within the specified timeframe unless otherwise determined by leadership.
  • Vascular Technologist (RVT) or equivalent registration must also be secured within the designated period.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required within six months of employment.


Educational Background:

  • Completion of an accredited Sonography program beyond high school is required.


Experience:

  • No prior experience is necessary; we welcome candidates eager to learn and grow.

  • Proficiency in performing a range of sonographic procedures.
  • Ability to exercise independent judgment in differentiating normal from pathological findings.
  • Strong communication skills to effectively interact with patients and healthcare team members.
  • Knowledge of safety protocols and adherence to organizational policies.
  • Capability to manage multiple tasks and adapt to changing environments.


Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to perform physical tasks such as lifting, standing, and walking throughout the workday.
  • Ability to lift and carry weights as specified in the job requirements.
  • May be exposed to various workplace hazards; adherence to safety protocols is essential.
