This role involves operating a tractor/trailer, adhering to Company, Federal, State, and Local laws, as well as FMCSA regulations. You will maintain accurate records, ensure equipment and cargo security, and conduct thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspections.

Key responsibilities include:

  1. Safely operating a tractor/trailer in accordance with Company, Federal, State, and Local laws, including FMCSA regulations.
  2. Maintaining accurate records required by local, state, and federal regulations.
  3. Ensuring the security of equipment and cargo.
  4. Conducting pre-trip and post-trip inspections to ensure safe working conditions of the tractor and trailer.
  5. Reporting any maintenance problems to Fleet Services or supervision promptly.
  6. Verifying AWB numbers and piece counts versus paperwork given, and reporting any discrepancies to your supervisor.
  7. Using in-cab technology, including electronic logs and tablets, as required.
  8. Driving different schedules and working on the dock as needed, based on business requirements.
  9. Providing professional and courteous service to customers and the general public.
Requirements
  • Must possess a valid Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL).
  • Must have at least 2 years of experience as a CDL A driver.
  • High School Diploma or General Educational Degree (GED), or equivalent education and experience.
  • 21 years of age, as required by FMCSA regulations.
  • Local P&D willing to unload appliance trailers and touch freight using a pallet jack and appliance dolly.
  • Familiarity with state motor vehicle laws and FMCSA rules and regulations.
  • Able to drop/hook and couple trailers, which involves cranking landing gear, pulling the 5th wheel pin, and maneuvering a trailer dolly.
  • Able to provide an acceptable Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) and produce a valid medical card.
  • Pass a road test.
  • Comply with all company policies, rules, procedures, and Code of Conduct.
  • Interact well with others.
  • Work under tight time constraints in a high-volume environment with multiple priorities.
  • Pass a pre-employment drug screen, random drug, and/or alcohol tests, and subject to a criminal history background check.
