Job Description

At Brockton Area Multi-Servi, we are seeking a dedicated Residential Counselor NonMAP to join our team. As a Residential Counselor NonMAP, you will play a vital role in supporting individuals with developmental and/or physical disabilities in a home environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Help individuals identify and develop interests and hobbies, facilitating community relationships and friendships that align with their interests.
  2. Empower individuals to advocate, make decisions, and become more independent in their homes and communities.
  3. Assist individuals with personal care tasks, including toileting, showering/bathing, grooming, personal hygiene, and mobility assistance.
  4. Support individuals in completing Activities of Daily Living (ADL) tasks, such as cooking, cleaning, personal hygiene, shopping, and money management.
  5. Utilize Positive Behavior Supports (PBS) practices to create a thoughtful and supportive environment.
  6. Communicate effectively with individuals, using their preferred method and language.
  7. Assist with access to community, including transportation, to enable individuals to access community resources.

Requirements:

  • Knowledge of theories, methods, procedures, and practices of working with individuals with developmental and/or physical disabilities.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in English, both in writing and verbally.
  • Ability to conduct, review, and interpret assessments and medical treatments.
  • Interpersonal skills and ability to work within Microsoft Office products.

Education/Licensure Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalency.
  • Certified Nursing Assistant, Associate's degree, or Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Valid driver's license, satisfactory driving record, and at least 3 years of driving experience.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift, push, pull, and maneuver up to 25-75 pounds.
  • Ability to reach, bend, stand, sit, and walk.
  • Repetitive and substantial movements of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers.
