Electronics Design Engineer - Avionics Radiation Hardness Assurance Specialist

Mclaurin Aerospace is seeking a highly skilled Electronics Design Engineer - Avionics Radiation Hardness Assurance Specialist to join our team at NASA Johnson Space Center in Houston, TX.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Support new projects and sustaining efforts throughout the product life cycle, including standards adjudications, system requirements reviews, and testing.
  • Drive critical decision-making processes for performing radiation testing, deriving part performance classification and taxonomy, and improving vehicle and subsystem level radiation reliability and survivability.
  • Establish applicable ionizing radiation requirements and predict environmental stresses to vehicles flown in ionizing radiation environments.
  • Collaborate with design engineers, project personnel, and other stakeholders to evaluate performance of electronic hardware and assess need to address impacts to functional, performance, reliability, and availability metrics.
  • Support program activities on behalf of subject matter experts by assessing relevance information with technical discussions to determine need to request SME consideration, and then accurately conveying SME assessments back to program and project stakeholders.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering and a minimum of 2-5 years of experience in the field or in a related area.
  • Familiarity with systems engineering and integration (S&EI) and/or specialty engineering for NASA spaceflight (or similar complexity).
  • Knowledgeable in basic electronics design and capable of performing basic circuit analysis.
  • Knowledgeable or have experience in performing electrical and mechanical fault analyses.
  • Knowledgeable and experienced in IPC J-STD-001, NASA-STD-8739 and ANSI/ESD S20.20 Standards.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Knowledgeable in EEE Parts and Advanced Packaging.
  • Experience with test hardware such as oscilloscopes, multi-meters, logic analyzers, function generators, electronic load banks, power supplies, power analyzers.
  • Prior experience with cable design for space applications.
  • Proficient in MS Office programs, particularly MS Project, Excel, PowerPoint, Word, OneNote and Outlook.
