We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Chief Tax Officer to join our team at The Agency Recruiting in the San Francisco Bay Area.
This is an exceptional opportunity for a seasoned tax professional to advance their career with a clear path to partnership. As a Tax Leadership Position, you will play a critical role in overseeing the tax department, managing client relationships, and providing strategic tax planning and advisory services.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in tax, excellent leadership skills, and a commitment to delivering high-quality client service. With a minimum of 7-10 years of experience in public accounting, you will be well-equipped to manage and mentor a team of tax professionals, providing training, feedback, and performance evaluations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Client Management:
- Develop and maintain strong client relationships, acting as a trusted advisor on tax-related matters.
- Lead client engagements, including tax planning, compliance, and consulting services for individuals, corporations, partnerships, and other entities.
- Provide proactive tax planning and strategic advice to clients to minimize tax liabilities and maximize financial outcomes.
- Technical Expertise:
- Stay current with changes in tax laws and regulations, ensuring compliance and identifying opportunities for clients.
- Review and sign off on complex tax returns and other deliverables prepared by the tax team.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior staff, fostering their professional development.
- Manage and mentor a team of tax professionals, providing training, feedback, and performance evaluations.
- Collaborate with other departments and partners to deliver integrated services to clients.
- Foster a positive and inclusive work environment that encourages teamwork and continuous improvement.
- Identify and pursue new business opportunities, contributing to the growth of the firm.
- Participate in networking events, industry associations, and community activities to enhance the firm's visibility and reputation.
- Develop and implement marketing strategies to attract and retain clients.
Qualifications:
- CPA license required
- Minimum of 7-10 years of experience in public accounting with a focus on tax.
- Proven track record of managing client relationships and delivering exceptional client service.
- Strong technical knowledge of federal, state, and local tax laws and regulations.
- Excellent leadership and management skills, with the ability to mentor and develop staff.
- Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strategic thinker with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Business development experience and a growth mindset.
