Egg Production Specialist

Sonstegard Foods Company, a leading manufacturer and wholesaler of shell eggs and egg products, is seeking a highly skilled and motivated individual to join our team as a Manager Trainee.

This role is a critical part of our operations, reporting to the Layer Manager and working closely with other managers and supervisors to oversee hourly associates in our 27 layer barns.

Key Responsibilities:

• Communicate effectively with team members and stakeholders.
• Ensure the overall care and well-being of layer birds.
• Assist in feed ration selection and maintenance of accurate records.
• Work with the Layer Manager to ensure barn cleanliness and timely delivery of pullets.
• Coordinate with the Pullet Barn Manager on pullet delivery.
• Monitor barn data to ensure water, air, feed, and manure are within schedule.
• Assist with employee selection, training, and onboarding.
• Schedule employees and be available for on-call duties.
• Collect environmental swab samples, trachea swabs, and blood testing as needed.
• Ensure animal welfare practices are followed and task training is complete.
• Lead by example and hold employees accountable to bio-security guidelines.
• Work with the QA Manager to ensure SQF requirements are met.
• Collaborate with maintenance and possess basic mechanical skills.
• Communicate with the Plant Manager on production-related issues.

Requirements:

5 years of experience in animal production or a Bachelor's Degree in Animal Science, Business, or Agriculture Management is desired. Bi-lingual in English and Spanish is preferred. Knowledge of basic computer skills with Microsoft products is necessary.

Physical Demands:

The ability to lift up to 75 pounds occasionally is required.
