Job Summary:

The primary function of the Service Writer is to write up repair orders in a timely and efficient manner. This involves greeting service customers, selling needed work, writing repair orders, and estimating costs of repairs.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Greet service customers and provide exceptional customer service.
  • Sell needed work and write repair orders in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Estimate costs of repairs and provide clear and concise information to customers.
  • Answer customer inquiries and provide solutions to their vehicle problems.
  • Obtain authorization for any work above and beyond the original scope given to the customer.
  • Open and close repair orders as needed to communicate with technicians.
  • Provide verbal instruction to technicians when applicable.
  • Review all repairs performed and be prepared to discuss with customers in detail.
  • Schedule future appointments when requested.
  • Ensure a clear understanding of customer financial responsibility to the repair order.
  • Maintain satisfactory customer relations through expeditious, courteous, and fair handling of all service customer complaints.
Requirements:
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
  • One to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Valid driver's license and driving record that meets company insurability standards.
