Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee all logistics functions, including safety protocols, shipping processes, inventory management, and workforce optimization.
- Ensure timely and efficient product delivery to customers through meticulous planning and continuous monitoring of performance metrics.
- Guide and mentor team members to achieve departmental objectives set forth by senior management.
- Establish and refine operational procedures to enhance departmental productivity.
- Address operational challenges by analyzing diverse scenarios and making informed decisions.
- Enhance operational strategies based on insights from the food distribution sector.
- Maintain effective communication between shifts to ensure seamless operations.
- Build and sustain positive relationships with customers, ensuring their needs are met promptly.
- Conduct regular departmental meetings to foster teamwork and collaboration.
- Manage departmental budgets while overseeing inventory organization on a scheduled basis.
- Implement training programs that align with production needs and adhere to collective bargaining agreements.
- Support team development by facilitating access to tools and technology.
- Engage with union representatives to address team member concerns effectively.
- Oversee truck leasing agreements and recruitment of management and support personnel.
- Monitor labor standards to ensure accurate reporting and compliance.
- Collaborate with HR to develop robust safety initiatives.
- Review incident reports to identify root causes and implement corrective actions.
- Promote a culture of safety with a zero-incident goal.
- Ensure compliance with local, state, and OSHA regulations through regular facility inspections.
- Maintain comprehensive records related to driver performance and equipment maintenance.
- Evaluate routing for optimal efficiency and adjust as necessary.
- Verify vendor invoices and manage accounts payable processes.
- Analyze trip records for efficiency in fuel usage and cost management.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED required; Bachelor's degree in Business Management or related field preferred.
- A minimum of five years of relevant experience is preferred.
- Strong managerial and supervisory capabilities.
- In-depth knowledge of operations and production management.
- Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook and Excel.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Physical Requirements:
- Able to stand for extended periods and perform repetitive lifting of up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to engage in various physical activities including walking, climbing, and bending.
