Job Summary

Webber is seeking an experienced Excavator Operator to join our team in the heavy highway and civil construction industry. As an Excavator Operator, you will be responsible for operating a crawler or rubber-tired machine mounted with an excavator bucket to excavate ditches, structures, and mass excavations, lay pipe and precast concrete structures, load trucks, and place rock riprap.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Operate Heavy Equipment: Start engines, move throttles, switches, and levers, and depress pedals to operate machines safely and efficiently.
  2. Signal Truck Drivers: Signal truck drivers to position trucks to facilitate loading of dirt, rocks, and other materials.
  3. Maintain Equipment: Perform maintenance work to equipment including oiling, greasing, and making necessary adjustments.
  4. Ensure Safety: Take actions to avoid potential hazards and obstructions such as utility lines, other equipment, other workers, and falling objects.
  5. Comply with Policies: Comply with all safety policies, practices, and procedures. Report all unsafe activities to supervisor and/or Human Resources.
  6. Participate in Team Efforts: Participate in proactive team efforts to achieve departmental and company goals.
  7. Develop Strong Relationships: Gain the respect of others by being fair, honest, reliable, and hard working.
Requirements
  1. Experience: Five (5) or more years of heavy highway and civil construction as an Excavator Operator.
  2. Education: High School Diploma or GED is preferred but not required.
  3. Communication Skills: Ability to communicate in English via verbal and written communications.
  4. Mathematical Proficiency: Mathematical proficiency as it relates to basic geometry, algebra, and mathematics.
  5. Physical Demands: Move throughout a construction jobsite which includes minor obstacles including climbing ladders and inclines, operating heavy equipment, and lifting up to 50 pounds.
  6. Work Environment: Heavy physical activity performing strenuous day activities of a primarily productive/technical nature. Work outdoors with exposure to changing weather conditions such as rain, sun, snow, and wind.
