Rental Support Specialist

At U-Haul Holding Company, we are committed to delivering exceptional customer experiences. As a Customer Service Representative, you will play a vital role in ensuring that customers receive the assistance they need with U-Haul products and services.
Your primary responsibilities will include assisting customers with equipment rentals, reservations, and returns, inspecting and maintaining equipment, cleaning and preparing rental units, and providing education to customers regarding products and services. You will also be required to use smartphone-based U-Scan technology to manage rentals and inventory, and move and hook up U-Haul trucks and trailers.
We offer a competitive salary range of $25-$35 per hour, depending on experience, plus benefits such as health insurance, paid holidays, and opportunities for advancement. Additionally, we offer a $100 hiring bonus and a $300 cash bonus upon completion of U-Haul Equipment Inspection and Verification through our 1-2-3 Punch Certification Program at retail stores.
Key Responsibilities
As a Customer Service Representative, you will be responsible for:
- Assisting customers inside and outside a U-Haul center with U-Haul products and services.
- Using smartphone-based U-Scan technology to manage rentals and inventory.
- Moving and hooking up U-Haul trucks and trailers.
- Cleaning and inspecting equipment on the lot, including checking fluid levels.
- Answering questions and educating customers regarding products and services.
- Preparing rental invoices and accepting equipment returned from rental.
- Installing hitches and trailer wiring.
- Filling propane (certification offered through U-Haul upon employment).
- Driving a forklift (certification offered through U-Haul upon employment).
- Participating in ongoing continuous U-Haul education through U-Haul University.
Requirements
To be successful in this role, you will need a valid driver's license, a high school diploma or equivalent, and excellent communication and problem-solving skills. You will also be required to participate in ongoing training and education programs to stay up-to-date on company policies and procedures.
Work Environment
The work environment for this role involves moderate risks or discomforts which require special safety precautions, e.g., working around moving parts or machines, fumes or irritant chemicals. May be required to use protective clothing or gear such as masks, goggles, gloves or shields.
Physical Demands
The work requires some physical exertion such as long periods of remaining stationary, moving around indoors and outdoors, positioning oneself to reach objects at varying heights and moving equipment weighing a minimum of 50 lbs. assisted or unassisted.
