About the Role

Pediatrix Medical Group is seeking a skilled Sonographer to join our team in a brand new office in Dulles. As a Sonographer, you will play a critical role in providing high-quality care to high-risk expectant mothers and their babies.

Responsibilities
  • Escort patients and families to and from examination rooms, ensuring a comfortable and safe experience.
  • Explain exams to patients and families, ensuring cooperation and optimal test results.
  • Acquire anatomical, pathological, and physiological data for interpretation by physicians.
  • Maintain patient charts and records, and process sonographic data and observations for presentation to interpreting physicians.
  • Create preliminary reports for physician review and signature.
  • Review studies with physicians and assist with procedures such as amniocentesis and chorionic villus sampling.
  • Code services performed and maintain proper operation of ultrasound equipment.
  • Recognize equipment malfunctions and take corrective action.
  • Maintain examination room laundry and inventory of ultrasound supplies.
  • Follow accredited laboratory protocols for obtaining two-dimensional images, color flow, Doppler, and m-mode.
  • Comply with universal precautions and OSHA standards, as well as safety and security training.
  • Rotate to cover Sonographer absences and perform related duties as directed.
Qualifications
  • Minimum six months experience as an ultrasound technician in OB/GYN and/or MFM setting preferred.
  • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal skills.
  • Skilled in operating ultrasound equipment.
  • Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Graduate of an accredited sonography program with a degree in ultrasonography or equivalent.
  • ARDMS OB/GYN certified or eligible.
  • Fetal echo certification or eligible to obtain within 12 months of hire.
  • CPR certification required.
  • Satisfactory completion of one of the following: at least two years in Allied Health Educational Program and one year on-the-job training in ultrasonography, or completion of an approved ultrasonography educational program.
  • Maintain or be eligible for certification as an American Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (ARDMS).
