Position Summary

We are in search of a Traffic Manager to enhance our team dedicated to delivering traffic engineering initiatives. In this pivotal role, you will lead a project team in the execution of traffic project development while overseeing scope, timelines, budgets, quality, risks, and resources. Additionally, you will play a crucial role in supporting our client outreach efforts across various counties.

As our Traffic Manager, you will be expected to spearhead business development efforts by leading proposals, pursuing new opportunities, and expanding your professional network. This position offers a remarkable chance for the right individual to contribute to the growth of our Transportation division.

Work Environment: Hybrid, with in-office presence as required.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead efforts to secure transportation and traffic-related projects from various clients, including state departments and local municipalities.
  • Oversee traffic projects through the study, preliminary design, and planning phases.
  • Coordinate internal teams and collaborate with external stakeholders to ensure the delivery of high-quality outcomes for key clients.
  • Represent Sambatek in meetings with clients and stakeholders.
  • Engage in quality assurance processes, manage risks, and allocate resources effectively.
  • Participate in business development activities and lead proposal efforts.
  • Mentor junior staff and contribute to strategic hiring decisions.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering with a focus on traffic and transportation engineering.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license in Civil Engineering with over 10 years of relevant experience (PTOE certification preferred).
  • Experience with traffic modeling software such as Synchro/SimTraffic and/or VISSIM is highly desirable.
  • Active participation in local, state, and national professional organizations.
  • Proven ability to exceed client expectations and build strong professional relationships.
  • Capability to market expertise and secure work within existing and new client bases.
  • Established reputation and network, particularly with state departments and local counties.
  • Experience managing traffic projects at the county or state level.
  • Ability to contribute to the development of annual business plans and budgets.
  • Strong leadership skills to mentor and develop team members.
  • Proficiency in traffic engineering software, including HCS, Synchro/SimTraffic, VISSIM, Corsim, Rodel, and IHSDM.
  • Experience evaluating traffic projects for various roadway types and innovative intersection designs.
  • Involvement in multi-modal projects addressing pedestrian, cyclist, transit, and freight considerations.
  • Preparation of traffic impact analyses, operational modeling, and signal warrant studies.
  • Familiarity with traffic signal design and timing.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills for public engagement.
  • Strong critical thinking and independent engineering judgment.
  • Knowledge of relevant federal, state, and local guidelines and standards.
  • Experience in preparing and negotiating contract documents.
  • Background in generating proposals, scopes, budgets, and schedules.

Work Environment:

  • Primarily office-based work.
  • Occasional ability to lift equipment or objects weighing up to 10 pounds.
