Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Adjunct Instructor to join our team at South Louisiana Community College. As an Adjunct Instructor, you will be responsible for teaching welding technology courses and associated labs, maintaining instructional standards, and facilitating instruction using alternative delivery methods as needed.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Teach assigned welding technology courses and associated labs in accordance with the college's workload policy.
  • Maintain written instructional standards and facilitate instruction using alternative delivery methods as needed.
  • Post and maintain office hours in accordance with policy.
  • Maintain familiarity and adherence to school policy.
  • Participate in the assessment and development of student learning outcomes.
  • Establish, maintain, and submit accurate student and instructional records in a timely manner.
  • Assist in the preparation of course proposals, curriculum, instructional materials, and evaluation tools.
  • Review and update course outlines, textbooks, laboratories, and course procedure sheets for welding technology courses.
  • Assist with curriculum updates and the construction of degree/certificate programs.
  • Apply and maintain standards of quality operating methods, processes, systems, and procedures such as and in accordance with AWS and ASME welding codes and standards.
  • Implement changes as necessary to maintain a successful welding technology program.
  • Integrate knowledge of customers, competitors, other industries, industry groups, and professional training to continuously improve program quality.
  • Work as part of an instructional team by participating in welding technology course scheduling, department, division, and college meetings.
  • Serve on college committees as assigned.
  • Work to maintain the integrity of department curriculum.
  • Maintain partnerships with local area employers to assist in arranging field experiences for program students.
  • Collaborate with college community and area high schools in support of welding technology events and competitions.
  • Assist in recruiting students and supporters to the program.
  • Participate in job fairs, recruiting events, and other special events related to the welding technology program.
  • Maintain equipment and supply inventory.
  • Act as advisers to student organizations.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to address teaching and research issues.
  • Advise students on academic and vocational curricula, and career planning.
  • Serve on academic or administrative committees that deal with institutional policies, departmental matters, and academic issues.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Demonstrates proficiency in performing and teaching structural welding techniques.
  • 3 years of industry experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Technical Diploma in Welding.
  • 3 years of teaching experience or military equivalent.
  • 3 years of leadership experience or military equivalent.
