We are seeking highly motivated and professional individuals to join our team as Deputy Sheriffs at the Kenosha County Sheriff's Department. As a Deputy Sheriff, you will play a critical role in maintaining public safety and enforcing laws in our community.
Key Responsibilities:- Patrol roads and highways in marked patrol squads to ensure public safety and respond to emergency situations.
- Investigate calls for service, reports of crime, and traffic accidents to identify and address potential threats.
- Assist in search and rescue operations to locate missing persons and provide critical support during emergency situations.
- Enforce federal, state, and local laws to maintain order and protect the community.
- Transport persons in custody to and from court and other locations while ensuring their safety and security.
- Serve or deliver warrants and other court-related paperwork and civil process to maintain the integrity of the justice system.
- Subdue, control, and detain aggressive individuals involved in physical confrontations to protect themselves and others.
- Prepare accurate and concise reports to document incidents and provide valuable insights for future improvements.
- Participate in ATV and snowmobile patrol, bicycle patrol, water patrol on Lake Michigan and various inland lakes, and other specialized units to enhance public safety and community engagement.
- Meet physical, mental, and psychological qualifications for a Deputy Sheriff position.
- Perform certified law enforcement officer duties, including traffic stops, high-risk calls, crowd control, and other law enforcement-related activities.
- Function in rapidly changing situations, from routine patrol operations to emergency and highly stressful and dangerous situations.
- Be a citizen of the United States.
- Be at least 20.5 years old at the time of application and 21 years old on the date of hire.
- Not have been convicted of a felony, unless the judgment or conviction has been reversed.
- Hold a valid driver's license.
- Not have been convicted of any single violation equivalent to more than four points in the three years preceding the date of the written test and have accumulated no more than six points.
- Hold a high school diploma or equivalent.
- Be certified by the Wisconsin Law Enforcement Standards Board (LESB) or have a two-year Associate Degree from an accredited institution or a minimum of sixty college-level credits from an accredited institution.

A take-home patrol vehicle program is also available for Deputies who complete their probation and are assigned to the patrol division.
