We are seeking a reliable and safety-conscious individual to join our team as a School Crossing Guard. As a School Crossing Guard, you will play a vital role in ensuring the safe passage of school-age children at designated crosswalks within school speed zones.

Key Responsibilities
  • Monitor school crossing areas to ensure the safe passage of students
  • Provide safety instructions and crossing procedures to students
  • Utilize safety equipment, including a retro-reflective vest, stop paddle, and traffic whistle, to provide gaps in traffic for students to cross safely
  • Report traffic violations that threaten the safety of children crossing the road to a supervisor or law enforcement member
  • Be on time for scheduled school zone posts and be in possession of all assigned safety gear and clothing
  • Process incoming and outgoing documents and/or files in a timely manner consistent with supervisory direction and/or agency policies/procedures
  • Participate in cross-training with other coworkers and assist when needed
  • Report hazards to safety to the Guard supervisor and/or 911 operator
  • Check for safety hazards on equipment and report identified or potential maintenance, safety, and/or non-compliance findings, hazards, and incidents to the appropriate personnel and/or department
  • Adhere to leave and attendance policies, including punctual arrival and completing shifts
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Good physical condition, including sight, sound, and mobility
  • Good communication skills
  • Dependable and able to work a split shift
  • Pass an extensive background investigation, including polygraph and drug test
  • Read, speak, and understand the English language
