Critical Care Transport Nurse

Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled Critical Care Transport Nurse to join our team at Prisma Health. As a Critical Care Transport Nurse, you will be responsible for providing critical care to patients being transported from outlying hospitals under protocol and/or SC EMS laws.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform detailed physical assessments, establish plans of care, and perform advanced critical care stabilization for patients being transported following designated protocols and procedures.
- Exhibit effective communication skills when dealing with parents, family members, referring physicians, and outlying hospital personnel.
- Provide maintenance and follow-up for equipment/supply needs to ensure system readiness.
- Provide written transport follow-up to each referring physician/hospital, collect data to assist in regulatory compliance, quality improvement, and patient satisfaction issues.
- Able to obtain blood gases from all sites, analyze and report results accurately, perform blood gas analyzer quality control and maintenance as needed, and initiate umbilical venous catheter insertion.
- Perform duties on helicopter or ambulance.
- Effectively communicate with all members of the healthcare team, provide complete and accurate reports to Medical Control, and make recommendations to medical directors during transports as appropriate.
- Act as a good steward of resources, including supplies, time/productivity, etc.
Requirements
- Associate's degree in Nursing
- 3 years of nursing experience required
- ICU or ER RN experience preferred
- Licensed to practice as a RN in South Carolina required
- Special Purpose EMT (must be obtained after hire)
- ACLS, NRP, and PALS required within one year of hire date
Work Environment
This is a variable shift position that requires flexibility and adaptability. The ideal candidate will be able to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and provide high-quality patient care in a variety of settings.
