Job Summary

This Sterilization Associate Sr I role is responsible for performing a sterility assurance function, developing, validating, and monitoring product sterilization processes in accordance with industry standards.

The successful candidate will assist in reviewing and classifying new and modified products, executing validation and process improvement projects, and representing the Sterilization Technology Department on cross-functional teams.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Reviews routine sterilization records and performs sterility release for sterile implants
  2. Assists in the review and classification of new and modified products
  3. Assists in the execution of validation and process improvement projects
  4. Executes special projects in the Environmental/Microbiology Services Laboratories
  5. Represents Sterilization Technology Department on cross-functional teams to address manufacturing issues, cleanroom issues, new product development, nonconforming product investigations, etc.
  6. Educates department personnel, manufacturing personnel, and development personnel on concepts in instrument reprocessing and industrial sterilization
  7. Assists with and/or prepares departmental documentation (Zimmer Work Instructions, test protocols, validation documents, technical reports, etc.) for review and approval
  8. Provides technical guidance to internal and external customers on issues pertaining to microbiology, clean room technology, instrument reprocessing, and industrial sterilization
  9. Represents Zimmer as an alternate on AAMI Standards Committees
Requirements

The ideal candidate will possess intermediate knowledge of microbiology, industrial sterilization technologies, and basic knowledge of chemistry, math, and statistics. Strong analytical problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and excellent verbal and written communication skills are also essential.

A Bachelor's degree in Microbiology, Biology, Medical Technology, Engineering, or a related field, along with 3-5 years of relevant industry experience, is required. Other combinations of education and experience may be considered.
