Civil/Structural Designer Job Description

NANA Regional Corporation, Inc. is seeking a skilled Civil/Structural Designer to join our team. As a key member of our design team, you will be responsible for applying engineering principles to design, modify, or develop facilities, testing, machines, equipment, or processes used in processing or manufacturing products.

Responsibilities:
  • Interpret and apply codes, procedures, standards, and specifications to accurately and efficiently produce various Civil/Structural designs.
  • Interpret complex vendor data or drawings for conformance with project requirements and initiate resolution of any problems.
  • Accurately develop material takeoffs and estimates.
  • Use computer-assisted design software and equipment to perform design tasks.
  • Consistently demonstrate example skills in structuring assigned activities, creativity, teamwork, handling a client's changing needs, communications, operational efficiencies, decision making, and analyzing and solving problems.
  • Analyze engineering proposals, process requirements, and related technical data pertaining to industrial machinery and equipment design.
  • Determine the feasibility of modifying existing facilities considering costs, available space, time limitations, company planning, and other technical and economic factors.
  • Provide information to those in field construction and provide technical information concerning manufacturing or processing techniques, materials, properties, and process advantages and limitations which affect long-range plant and product engineering planning.
  • Study engineering and technical publications to keep abreast of technical changes and developments in the industry.
  • Design experience, which includes arctic civil/structural design.
  • Aide in the preparation and modification of reports, specifications, plans, construction schedules, and designs for projects.
Qualifications:
  • 4-10 years of work experience, with oil and gas industry experience preferred.
  • 8-15 years of experience in the oil and gas industry.
  • 15+ years of experience in the oil and gas industry; or an Associate degree in engineering technology, electrical design, or related degree from an accredited institution and 10+ years of experience.
  • 17+ years of experience in the oil and gas industry; or an Associate degree in engineering technology, electrical design, or related degree from an accredited institution and 15+ years of experience.
  • 20+ years of experience in the oil and gas industry; or 15 years of experience with significant Lead Designer role.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Applicable Arctic/cold weather experience.
  • 3-D modeling experience.
  • Experience working with Advance Steel.
  • Experience working with IBC, AWS, ASCE, and AISC.
  • Field-specific design experience.
Language Ability:

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.

Math Ability:

Math skills sufficient to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Compute rate, ratio, and percent. Draw and interpret bar graphs.

Reasoning Ability:

Solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Interpret an extensive variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Computer Skills:

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have a working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and current versions of AutoCAD design software.
