Responsibilities

As a Maternal-Newborn Nurse, your duties will include:


Providing specialized nursing care in Inpatient Obstetrics and Maternal-Newborn settings, catering to both normal and high-risk obstetric patients.

High-risk patients may present with actual or potential complications that necessitate continuous monitoring and intervention to safeguard maternal and fetal health.

Assuming the role of circulating nurse in the operating room for scheduled and emergency cesarean sections and cesarean hysterectomies, as well as offering care during post-anesthesia recovery.

Evaluating obstetrical outpatients at 20 weeks' gestation or greater, either independently or in collaboration with a provider, to address both complicated and uncomplicated pregnancy and labor concerns.

Delivering care to newborns following vaginal deliveries, routine scheduled cesareans, and emergency cesarean sections, while implementing care protocols for normal and high-risk newborns.

Administering complex medications and performing detailed assessments of obstetric patients and newborns, ensuring adherence to established professional standards and hospital protocols.

Utilizing advanced nursing assessment skills to identify and address complex infant care challenges, continuously revising care plans based on patient status.

Maintaining accurate nursing records and documenting all aspects of patient care, including response to treatments and follow-up plans.

Collaborating with physicians and anesthesia providers during complex procedures, ensuring compliance with infection control policies.

Applying the nursing process to develop comprehensive care plans that address the physiological, psychological, and sociological needs of patients.

Providing education on disease processes, pre and post-operative care, and health maintenance to patients and their families.


Qualifications

US Citizenship is required.

A graduate or higher-level degree in nursing from an accredited program is necessary.

A current, unrestricted nursing license from a U.S. state or territory is required, along with successful completion of the National Council Licensure Examination.
