Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Physician Assistant/Nurse Practitioner to join our team at the Galveston County Health District. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will provide high-quality patient care and services to residents in Galveston County.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide Primary Care Services: Conduct physical examinations, order lab tests, prescribe medications, and provide health maintenance visits.
  • Manage Chronic Conditions: Provide continuity of care for patients with long-term problems, including diabetes, hypertension, and asthma.
  • Perform Contract and Special Physical Examinations: Conduct physical examinations for employment, HeadStart, and other purposes.
  • Provide STD and Family Planning Services: Screen and educate patients on sexually transmitted diseases and family planning options.
  • Participate in Clinical Committees: Collaborate with healthcare professionals to develop and implement clinical protocols and procedures.
  • Adhere to Infection Control Policies: Understand and follow Galveston County Health District's infection control policies and guidelines.
Requirements
  • Licensure: Licensed to practice in the State of Texas as a Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner.
  • Education: Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university and graduation from an approved Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner program.
  • Experience: Experience in a public health or community clinic setting is preferred.
  • Skills: Knowledge of adult learning principles, ambulatory nursing practices and procedures, and community resources. Ability to use electronic medical records systems and possess excellent written and verbal communication skills.
