Job Title: Speech Language Pathologist

The La Center School District is seeking a highly qualified Speech Language Pathologist to join our team. As a Speech Language Pathologist, you will be responsible for evaluating students with communication disorders, assessing their impact on educational performance, and establishing a course of intervention to support student success.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Evaluate students with communication disorders to determine eligibility and need for speech/language service
  • Document communication skill deficits and their impact on the student's educational performance
  • Recommend, establish, provide, and evaluate a course of interventions specific to the diagnosed communication disorder
  • Work with the classroom teacher to develop, implement, and evaluate classroom-based instructional programs for students in special education classrooms to enhance communication skills that support academic progress
  • Develop and implement an efficient service delivery schedule, including individual, small group, and large group instruction, and co-treat with OT/PT staff when appropriate for individual student needs
  • Develop and implement a data management system to collect and record ongoing student progress toward accomplishment of IEP goals and objectives
  • Provide informational/consultative services to enhance the student's ability to benefit from their educational program
  • Work collaboratively to develop, plan, and implement instruction
  • May provide in-service staff development as needed
  • Develop and maintain positive working relationships with staff, students, parents, and community members
  • Make outside referrals as appropriate
  • Attend meetings as required
  • Complete all required paperwork and reports in a timely, professional manner

Requirements:

  • Valid Washington State Educational Staff Associate certificate as a Speech Language Pathologist
  • Master's degree from a regionally accredited institution
  • Demonstrated ability to work and communicate effectively with students, parents, and staff

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous experience as a Speech Language Pathologist
  • Previous experience facilitating language-based classroom activities
  • Previous experience in a Life Skills classroom setting
  • Certificate of Clinical Competency
  • Valid Washington State Department of Health License

Benefits:

  • Eligible employees may accrue sick leave at the rate of one (1) hour of sick leave for every 40 hours worked under Washington State law
