Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Veterinary Technician to join our team at Capital Humane Society. As a key member of our animal care team, you will play a critical role in ensuring the health and well-being of the animals in our care.

Responsibilities
  • Surgery Support: Prepare the surgery area for daily procedures, ensuring all necessary supplies and equipment are available and in good working order.
  • Animal Care: Assist veterinarians with routine health examinations, health maintenance, and surgery, ensuring the highest level of care for all animals.
  • Kennel Maintenance: Maintain the cleanliness and organization of kennels, exam rooms, and surgery areas, adhering to strict health and safety protocols.
  • Supply Management: Ensure adequate supplies are on hand, properly inventory, store, and use resources efficiently.
  • Volunteer Supervision: Supervise and oversee volunteers in the veterinary department, providing guidance and support as needed.
  • Euthanasia and Adoption Support: Assist with the selection of animals for adoption or euthanasia, and perform euthanasia as assigned.
  • Communication: Maintain effective communication with coworkers, supervisors, and the public, providing excellent customer service and support.
Requirements
  • Education and Certification: Must be familiar with animal care, diseases, and behavior, with previous experience and professional certification required.
  • Communication and Interpersonal Skills: Ability to communicate and work well with the public, coworkers, and volunteers.
  • Physical Demands: Must be able to lift up to 25 lbs. throughout the day.
  • Insurance and Licensing: Must possess, or be able to obtain within 90 days of employment, a valid Nebraska driver's license and be insurable by the Capital Humane Society's insurance carrier.
Benefits
