An exceptional opportunity is available for a Nurse Practitioner to become a vital member of our dedicated inpatient clinical team within the Comprehensive Stroke Center, contributing significantly to the delivery of specialized, high-quality care for our patients.
The Nurse Practitioner collaborates closely with the Inpatient Stroke Team, under the supervision of the Vascular Neurologist on the inpatient service, to ensure the provision of exemplary care for patients experiencing acute stroke.
The Nurse Practitioner utilizes a comprehensive understanding of anatomy, neurology principles, microbiology, physiology, psychology, human disabilities, pharmacology, gerontology, human growth and development, developmental diseases, and medical terminology as relevant in the clinical environment and appropriate for their level of medical licensure.
The Nurse Practitioner is accountable for the holistic care of the inpatients assigned to them, which includes ordering diagnostic tests, managing medication regimens, engaging with families, and coordinating appropriate discharge plans from the hospital.
This role involves working within a multidisciplinary team comprising physicians, physical and occupational therapists, speech and language therapists, and case managers.
Regular educational opportunities are available for the Nurse Practitioner within the Department of Neurology and the Division of Vascular Neurology.Qualifications include:
- Graduation from an accredited Nurse Practitioner Master's degree program or a Doctor of Nursing Practice degree
- Current NYS licensure, Board Certification, and DEA registration
- Possession or ability to obtain a National Provider Identifier (NPI) issued by the US Center for Medicaid and Medicare services
- Exceptional verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
