Job Summary

We are seeking a compassionate and skilled Home Health Aide to join our team at North Star Nursing. As a Home Health Aide, you will provide direct care to home care clients, promoting their independence and well-being in the comfort of their own homes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Client Care
    • Read and follow established plans of care, including communication skills and barriers, observation, reporting, and documentation of patient status.
    • Provide basic infection control procedures, maintain a clean and safe environment, and recognize emergencies and knowledge of emergency procedures.
    • Assist with personal hygiene and grooming, including bathing, hair care, nail and skin care, oral hygiene, and toileting and elimination.
  • Additional Tasks
    • Perform delegated tasks, including medication administration, upon completion of instruction and return demonstration.
    • Prepare meals, including modified diets and food safety.
    • Complete household chores.
  • Communication and Teamwork
    • Participate in care conferences with other members of the healthcare team.
    • Maintain absolute confidentiality of all information pertaining to clients, families, and employees.
    • Document as indicated in clinical records.
Requirements
  • High School Graduate
  • Home Health Aide course completion preferred
  • Satisfactory completion of competency test
  • Ability to read, write, comprehend, and carry out directions and instructions
  • Able to function effectively with minimal direct supervision
  • Good health status and emotional stability
Working Conditions

The Home Health Aide will work in a variety of settings, including clients' homes, and will be exposed to temperatures, wet and humid conditions, and noise. The position requires the ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 pounds, and to stand, walk, bend, and stoop for extended periods.

The Home Health Aide will be required to use Universal Precautions and appropriate infection control measures, and to report incidents and accidents to the Administrator or Director of Nursing on the day of occurrence.
